moving a Chambers

Hi. We're about to move from a third-story walk-up & my wife is afraid we'll have to leave her pride and joy Chambers behind. (When she got it the movers refused to take it past the first floor until she forked over a couple hundred more.) I'm not sure which model it is. I looked for markings but didn't find any. The closest picture was the Martha Washington series. I think the frame is two separate pieces that come apart. Hi Joe

Nice stove. I personally know nothing about these
but some of the other members have them.
On the newer ones the porceline sides come off fairly
easily. The legs are taken off. All the grates,
burners and any thing else that is not too difficult
to remove, is taken off or out. What can't be
removed would need to be protected especially the
porcelain panels. Wheeled dollies
are used. If it is three stories the stove would
need to be strapped onto the dolly.
Gravity will be working for you.
Possibly some sort of block and tackle where you
could "hold back up" and let it down slow.
Again make sure the stove is securely fastened to
the dolly. And the procelain is protected.
don't let anyone get in front of the stove, unless
there is enough manpower to stop a run away. Unless of course you have plenty of life insurance.
I'm sure that some of the other members can help
you more than I can. I'm not really familiar with
those stoves. I would invite all my friends over
for beer and then tell them when the stove is safely down stairs we will drink the beer.
